For some, ST.MARTiiNS are a band that have appeared suddenly out of the blue. In recent months, the Dundee based act have been thrown into a wave of noted support slots, headlines and understandable interest. They’re a band turning heads, so we thought it was only right to attend their headline show at The Hug and Pint in Glasgow.
In a venue underneath a Pan-Asian restraunt located in Glasgow’s West End, ST.MARTiiNS and their band took to the stage. They had only been on stage a mere minute but it was already clear every member of the audience was captivated by their performance. For a band that appear to have only been together for a few month, they perform with years of experience and with songs that songwriters would work for years to perfect and develop. The voice of lead singer Katie is a spectacle in itself. She has an undeniable mesmerising tone and the audience was in awe of her ease and capability to sing. The lyrics of each song were dark and could be said twisted but they were met with a flurry of darkness which built into energetic indie pop concocted of rhythm and style.
To me it’s unbelievably clear why the band are turning heads. Their performance was magnetising and I was unable to draw myself away. If you don’t mind me saying, it was an absolute fucking spectacle of a gig and no one should pass the opportunity up of witnessing a live set. 10/10 would recommend.
(So tried to keep my linguistic cool throughout, but I just can’t express my emotions in such a way no more. Byeee)
