Taking to the stage of Glasgow’s Queen Margaret Union this past Friday, was LA 3 piece Lany.
Opening with a burst of blinding lights and the shimmering electronics of Dumb Stuff, Lany were almost drowned out by the screams of the crowd. Members of the audience waved flowers and sung every word without fault. The crowd reaction as a whole was surreal and at points overwhelming.
They delved through their pop dream music, from the debut albums to their EP’s. With a paced tempo throughout, except for the burst of energy in Good Girls. There were some songs that captivated more than others, including WHERE THE HELL ARE MY FRIENDS, Flowers on the floor and Super Far. Lany gave their music a brief pause to cover Harry Style’s Sign of The Times on piano. Announcing Glasgow was the “best UK show on this run so far,” the crowd were encouraged even more, soaking up their tracks.
The band showcased their musicianship beautifully, each song harbours so much artistry which may go unnoticed by the typical fan. Ending with ILYSB, the performance was intense and by far one of the best to be seen.
