HalfNoise @ King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow – 17/01/17

Zac Farro’s pop project HalfNoise, made their Scottish debut yesterday evening at Glasgow’s King Tuts Wah Wah Hut. The penultimate date of the group’s UK headline tour in support of their most recent album, Sudden Feeling which was released in September of last year.

Opening with one of HalfNoise’s fan favourites Know the Feeling, the stage was suddenly hit with a burst of music and colour. I had yet to see a show met with such high energy and enthusiasm until this very performance. No song was played with less drive and no member of the band dropped the ball at any point. More often than not at least one on stage presence seems bored and distant, however for HalfNoise that was refreshingly not the case.

Throughout the performance Zac Farro showcased his many musical talents, many people left in awe of the drum solos. The entire band’s talents appeared endless. Encouraging the crowd to join in, the front man handed out maracas and tambourines. This appeared to bring sheer joy to many members of the audience who had been lost in the music and captivated by the band.  Their music was loud and ambitious, some songs giving off a very Phoenix inspired noise. Playing many songs from the new album such as In the Summer and Sudden Feeling but also delving into the past to play Mountain and Inside.

If HalfNoise’s King tut’s gig could be described in one word, it would be Vibrant. It’s doubtful the band will be back to the UK often, so I make the highest recommendation to catch them when they hopefully grace Scotland once again.
