We had the fantastic opportunity of talking to Birmingham 3 piece, Jaws! Read below as we talk their new album “Simplicity,” their upcoming tour and their plans for the future with frontman Connor!
How did you guys form? What inspired you to call yourself Jaws?
Connor: We met at college in early 2012, I was writing songs and fancied getting a band together, we all did the same course.
You’ve recently released your new album ‘Simplicity’, How are you feeling about the reception that it has received so far?
Connor: It’s been quite overwhelming to be honest, which is very cool!
What was the writing process behind the album, how did you guys tackle it?
Connor: Same as always, a mixture of me bring demos to the table and a mixture of jamming until we had songs, there wasn’t really a thought process, we always just write what we enjoy playing.
What’s been a stand out moment for you this year?
Connor: Releasing the album
You have a tour scheduled for the end of the month, what are your anticipations for it? Are there any dates in particular that you are looking forward to?
Connor: We just can’t wait to get on the road, we haven’t toured for a whole year now and I think we’ve played maybe 3 or 4 shows this year so yeah very excited for every show.
What have you got planned for the next six months? What can fans look forward?
Connor: In all honesty we haven’t thought past the 2nd of december (when the tour ends) all i know is that I’m going back to work on the 5th ahah
What is the music scene in and around Birmingham like? What bands should people check out?
Connor: There’s a sick new band called The Lizards, everyone needs to hear them.
If there is anything that stands out… How do Scottish shows compare to English dates?
Connor: The fans are always up for it in Scotland I love it.

If you could have written any song ever, which one would it be?
Connor: 1979 – The Smashing Pumpkins

Connor: Not quite sure
What’s the worst gift you have ever given or received?
Connor: I tweeted once saying J fancied a twix and someone gave me one at the show so that was cool!
What is your favourite gig or festival experience?
Connor: Bestival is always cool, i like that one.
