For those yet to discover Casey Lowry, how would you describe your sound?
Casey: I’d call it lighthearted tropical pop!
What can fans anticipate from your live show?
Casey: No one taking themselves too seriously, nothing too planned and spontaneous dance offs.
Your new single “confused” is out on Friday! What can you tell us about the track?
Casey: I find it difficult to write serious lyrics because it takes away from the lighthearted side of things but Confused is one of those I just couldn’t help that with. It’s a seriously sad track with overshadowed by this bouncy beat which was really replicating my life at the time when I wrote it.
What is your typical songwriting process?
Casey: I don’t have a particular process, sometimes the lyrics will just jump out or a little tune/riff, but I think that’s the best way to stop all your songs sounding the same which is the problem with lots of indie pop/trop pop
What is in store for the next 6 months?
Casey: Hopefully more of the same, the first 6 months of my career have been so fast paced and eye opening I don’t want to stop. I’m moving to London to focus on my career, got a few new tunes coming out and a HUGE tour planned.
Quickfire round! What was the first gig you ever went?
Casey: KC and The Sunshine Band
Who is your musical guilty pleasure?
Babymetal
If you have written any song ever, what would is be?
Coasts – Oceans. It’s what shaped my sound.
Who are you favourite upcoming artists?
SO MANY! Riscas, Mowbeck, Marsicans, Cassia, Jerry Williams and so many more!
Thank you! Tickets are still available for Casey’s gig at Broadcast here.
